The holidays are here, and if there’s one thing we do entirely too much of around this time of year, besides spending money, it would have to be eating! The holiday season is full of food, and of course not the healthy stuff. However, as adults we not only have to have dinner with our family but also our significant others family too. Table manners is a must! So I’ve compiled some things so you can impress when you’re serving them and when they’re serving you.
There is a proper way to set the table. So make sure you do so accordingly, it’s the small details that will make his family fall in love with you as much as he has OR make them think you aren’t good enough. Which do you want?
DO put your napkin in your lap
DO cut your food into bite size pieces before stuffing it into your mouth
DO sit up straight and bring the food to your mouth, not your mouth to your food
DO chew with your mouth closed
DO thank those that have prepared the food
DON’T begin eating until everyone has been served and prayer has been said
DON’T bring up any controversial topics, just engage with the topics they bring up
DON’T slurp your soup, gulp your drink, or eat too fast.
DON’T blow on your food if it is too hot, just simply wait until it cools down
DON’T put your elbows on the table
